Behind the Scenes, A Tasteful South Bay!

Image
Introduction: I recently had the opportunity to be on set of a fashion editorial shoot with some of the South Bays leading creatives in fashion. Partnering with Content Magazine and West Valley College located in Saratoga in the Silicon Valley. Meeting such wonderful people and the stuff we talked about was inspiring. The Conversation On Set Arriving to a beautiful studio with great creative space getting into the grove of the scene. Staying patient to observe the hidden stories amongst the people who are expressing their own story without hesitation. Exploring the equipment and asking questions to start conversation. The head photographer, Mark was so fantastic to work with. He brings such great vibes and a profound knowledge in figuring out the best way to photograph a model. "Maintain neutral energy" He was talking to me and another photo assistant named Miles about how to maintain a neutral mindset to not influence the model but to allow the model to shi

The Power of Fashion and Mental Health

While riding home on the subway listening to a TED Radio Hour podcast called The Person You Become I found an interesting individual named Kaustav Dey. He is head of marketing for Tommy Hilfiger in India. I was moved by his fashion revolutionary concepts on how important fashion is for people all over the world. He mentions that our body is a canvas and we should express ourselves with it. To show who we are as a person and to give us courage and literally wear that courage on our sleeves.   I felt empowered and gained perspective and appreciation for the privilege and access I have to express myself through clothes and to me it does matter what I wear. It is a representation of who I am not only as a person but in that very moment. Fashion is a powerful force that should be respected and allowed in every culture and place in the world. Check out Kaustav Dey’s TED Talk about the role of fashion as a vehicle for protest.  Comment below to share your experiences with your out

Schizophrenia Essay

Inside the Beautiful Mind of John Nash Floating around like a lily pad in a still quiet pond. Until his eyes gaze upon you with endless and limitless expansion like there is so much of a person trapped inside a little box. Not having any response and having too many responses is a contradiction but not impossible. People ghosting around you swarming you like the paparazzi never leaving you alone. Always there following you and seemingly to appear out of nowhere. Heavy weights latched on to your body weighing you down into the soil to consume your well being in an ocean of darkness and despair. To escape is an illusion and to deal with these episodes is a nightmare. The idea of winning or losing doesn’t exist in a nonlinear black and white world. Articulations spewing out of the depths of your subconscious mind like a combination between dejavu and a memory. Watching disregarded footage as if they are bloopers of a murder scene. Strange warlocks in white cloaks casting spells and se

The Creative Process And...Your Ego?

I recently went to a social event in San Jose, the base of Silicon Valley called Flow. It was put together by the amazing Content Magazine team held at Adobe world headquarters. The discussion here was “The Creative Process”. A panel of artists sat down to discuss their unique process. In this discussion what the creative process is and why the creative process is important were a few topics they tapped into. As an artist in the San Francisco Bay Area I have had to develop my own form of creative process. What I have grown into as a creative is that I need to be around people. I am inspired by people and get most of my ideas from being involved and sharing energy flow with others around me. Getting inspired is the first step for me towards creating my art. I am a visual artist and thinker. When I am digesting a concept I naturally visualize colors, pictures, scenarios, lighting, and people. I imagine a whole new world in which I expand and grow. Next I make it into a reality and t
